The Harbour Bridge Museum

Base Build & Refurbishment Upgrade

The project comprised the base building refurbishment and upgrade of the Bridge Museum within the heritage-listed South-East Pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The works included project and site management, demolition and removal works, painting and specialist steam cleaning, bathroom refurbishment, plumbing and electrical upgrades, new lighting, kitchenette and joinery installations, server and media rig infrastructure, acoustic insulation, carpet finishes throughout, and the removal and replacement of selected glass doors and windows.

A key component of the project was the careful management and protection of significant heritage fabric within one of Australia’s most important heritage landmarks.

This required site-specific heritage protection methodologies, physical protection and hoardings to sensitive areas, mandatory heritage inductions for contractors, controlled demolition and installation techniques, and detailed planning of material movements through narrow and constrained access routes to prevent damage to the existing building fabric.

The works also required careful coordination with BridgeClimb and Transport for NSW, including controlled site access, security requirements and complex construction logistics, together with testing and commissioning.
