Building Guild successfully completed the installation of a new lift shaft at 74 Upper Pitt Street, Kirribilli, enhancing accessibility for this 15-storey residential building overlooking Sydney Harbour. Designed by Cullen Feng Architects, the project required precision engineering and expert coordination to seamlessly integrate the new lift structure while maintaining the building’s architectural integrity.
A key challenge of the project was excavating into the basement in, around and under footings of the 13-storey building to accommodate the lift shaft foundation. Using temporary access through a residents garage for an excavator, our team then carefully dug down to the required depth while ensuring the structural stability of the existing building. Once the underpinning, engineered excavation was completed, we utilized several large cranes to lift and position individual precast concrete panels, forming the core structure of the lift shaft. Then breaking through existing lobby walls to allows access to new lift core.
As part of the project, Building Guild also carried out an interior upgrade on Level 12. This project stands as another example of Building Guild’s expertise in delivering tailored solutions for high-rise environments, reinforcing our reputation for quality-driven construction and infrastructure enhancements.
Key Challenges:
— Coordination of key off site trades (precast panels, steel, windows, lift manufacture) to come together on site
— Authority approvals
— Police Escorts / Traffic Management
— Basement Excavation
— Underpinning
— Fully tennanted building
