145 Cleveland Street – Mezzanine Upgrade
Mezzanine Upgrade & Warm Shell Fit-out
Building Guild completed a project for Addenbrooke Pty Ltd at 145 Cleveland Street, Darlington. This undertaking involved the construction additional mezzanine space to increase NLA to level one, and a warm shell fit-out spanning approximately 1120 square meters.
The project commenced with the demolition of the existing offices on the ground floor. This demolition phase was critical in preparing the space for the installation of a new mezzanine level.
This project involved modifying a two-level building by creating new window openings in the brick walls on both the ground and first floors. Due to traffic on the side streets surrounding the building, external propping from the street was not possible. Instead, we carefully created pockets in the brickwork above and below each opening and counter-levered propping system to ensure structural stability.
Exclusion zones & traffic control were necessary to manage disruptions and maintain safety during the work. Despite these challenges, the new window frames were successfully installed using scissor lifts from the street, while preserving the integrity of the existing structure.
The installation of these windows has significantly improved the building’s energy efficiency and aesthetic appeal, allowing more natural light to permeate the interior spaces. Furthermore, a new entrance door was added, providing a seamless and convenient connection between the car park and the interior, thus improving accessibility and flow.
