We delivered construction works over a 10-week program, transforming an iconic Sydney Café in the historical Queen Victoria Building (QVB).
Nestled in one of the QVB’s busiest corners, this café is part of many Sydney-siders’ morning rituals. Over time, the café has transformed from a French bistro style café, to restaurant, to wine bar and before returning to its original role — a thriving metropolitan café.
We worked outside of business hours for a large portion of the 10-week program to install a mezzanine level to host the relocated main kitchen, with all goods movements restricted to off-peak hours. Given the heritage nature of the building, and the CBD location, our team worked with council to ensure no disruption to foot traffic or the heritage fabric throughout the works.
As well as relocating the kitchen and installing new back of house preparation areas, the fit-out included high-end finishes and fixtures. The refurbished space created a distinct café and wine bar area for the next phase of the cafe’s growth.
