Workplace Fitout

Carnival Australia is a nationally-recognised cruise line operator, comprising house-hold names such as P&O Cruises Australia and Princess Cruises. Building Guild expertly delivered the fit-out of Carnival Australia’s inspired new workspace at Levels 3-6, 465 Victoria Avenue, Chatswood. With multiple brands operating within the 3,500sqm tenancy, Carnival wanted to create a collaborative, innovative work environment, with an objective of bringing the brands together in a common space whilst maintaining their individuality.
Imagined by the creatives of Siren Design, Knight Frank engaged Building Guild to construct a premium workplace, making possible the vision of a workspace which met Carnival’s unique operational requirements whilst integrating a design which created a feel of ‘a home away from home.’

The brief included the make-good of the existing office and the strip-out of the fit-out and its redundant services. Building Guild saw to a complete strip-out and installation of all services, including hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, security AV and fire, as well as additional storage installation within the underground carpark. The new design houses a complex IT infrastructure and main communications room with sub-communication rooms on each floor, as well as an emergency response room as a risk management requirement. The considered fit-out embraces a collaborative, flexible working environment nestled within a café-style culture. The creation of multiple consulting and meeting spaces with an interactive cafeteria provide a refreshing twist on the traditional office space. Additionally, Building Guild were required to relocate the redundant furniture and fittings from the previous head office.

The space utilizes a harmonious blend of warm timbers, brass and cool tones to create a breezy ocean feel, reflecting Carnival’s open culture. The cruise line spirit is captured on the client floor through a central café, which enables visitors and Carnival’s various brands to come together, channelling the communal dining experience of a cruise liner. The uniquely finished reception area and cafeteria space include thoughtful touches of model cruise ships encased in Perspex. Other finishes include carpet and vinyl tiling, booth-seating and wallpaper, with all additional spaces executed with great attention-to-detail. Carnival Australia’s head-office fit-out was challenging yet also rewarding, due to the scale and high-quality specifications of the client. Building Guild delivered a great result which is a credit to its management and project team’s meticulous approach and dedication to quality.
